Anticipation of harvest of 7 thousand tons of Pistachio from the gardens of Southern Khorasan

About 60 percent of the 8 thousand hectares of the under cultivation area of Pistachio in the province Southern Khorasan, are fruitful and it’s anticipated that 7 thousand tons of Pistachio will be harvested from the province.
“This valuable commodity pulls One billion US Dollars to the country each year,” said the head of the agricultural jihad organization of the province Southern Khorasan.
“The province’s produced Pistachio is recorded in 7 mechanized record terminals and is processed in 4 half-mechanized workshops,” said Ali Akbar Tonaaki.
“In the current farming year 577 thousand flowerpot saplings of Pistachio have been distributed among the gardeners with subsidies,” he added.
“The main Pistachio producer areas of the province are Beshravieh, Ferdous, Birjand and Ghayen, respectively,” he continued.
Pistachio is one of the most important export commodities of Iran which has the second highest rank among other non-oil export commodities and is the first in that of the agricultural commodities.
