Sales of organic fruits & vegetables more than doubled in 4 years

In Denmark, sales of organic fruits and vegetables increased 143% in the years 2015-19 according to Danmarks Statistik.

 

 

 

This overall performance is surpassed by those achieved by potatoes, berries, lettuce and cabbage, whose sales have multiplied by 3 in 4 years according to Økologisk Landsforening, the national association of organic products.

 

 

 

In Denmark organic fruits have a market share of 22.7%, while the share of vegetables is 24.7% according to GFK Consumer Scan. Organic carrots now represent almost half of total sales with a market share of 45.2%.

 

 

 

Danish consumers remain the first in the world for purchases of organic products. Both to improve their own health and to contribute to more sustainability, says Økologisk Landsforening.
