Banana production has increased

The Philippines recorded a 3.1% increase in the volume of its banana production.

 

 

 

According to data from the Philippine Statistics Authority, the volume of banana production in the country totaled 2.41 million tons for the period from October to December 2017. This represents an increase of 3.1% over the same period of the previous year. 'last year.

 

 

 

Banana production has experienced difficult weather conditions in recent years. Several typhoons and the consequences of the El Niño phenomenon had led to a decline in production.

 

 

 

The sector also attributes these good results to an extension of the areas of banana plantations and to better production methods. The Cavendish variety accounts for 51.4% of total banana production.
