In Chile, according to the 1st estimate of the 2019-20 season, cherry exports could reach 209,000 tons, which is 16.1% higher than in the 2018-19 season.
According to estimates made by ASOEX which represents 75% of the Chilean cherry industry, cherry exports would reach 41 849 430 boxes (5 kilos) or 209 000 tonnes, a figure which would be 16.1% higher than from 2018-19.
Peak shipments are expected for weeks 50 and 51 where exports will exceed 8 million boxes per week.
In fiscal year 2018-19, Asia received 92.3% of total Chilean cherry exports, with China receiving 95% of the volume shipped to Asian markets. For the next season the situation will be identical.
