Last week, delegates from the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) of Chile visited the management and technical team of the Colombian Agricultural Institute, ICA, in order to tour two Colombian departments, to validate compliance with the work plan for export of fresh fruit with a view to opening the Chilean market for the Colombian Hass avocado.
During the technical tour, experts from Corpohass and ICA will examine avocado production sites in Antioquia and an export plant in Risaralda.
Colombia has phytosanitary access to 55 countries, 6 of these with a work plan (South Korea, Argentina, the United States, Peru, Japan and China).
The country has 79,832 hectares cultivated with avocado of different varieties, of which 40,000 concentrate the production of the Hass variety. Of these, some 24,424 hectares are destined for the export market.
