89% of avocados imported by the United States come from Mexico

In the United States, demand for avocados continues to grow, and imports are also rising.
According to USDA data, the total volume of avocados imported by the USA in marketing year 2022/23 (September to August) amounted to 1.265 million tonnes. This represents an increase of +14% on the 1.01 million tonnes imported in 2017/18.
In terms of supplier countries, for this 2022/23 marketing year, Mexico's share was 89% (87% in 2017/18) with 1.12 million tonnes. Next came Peru with 78,296 tonnes, the Dominican Republic with 41,381 tonnes, Colombia with 13,931 tonnes and Chile with 3,877 tonnes.
