A record harvest of 2011 led to strong financial results for Zespri which predicts two declining seasons.
There was a record volume for kiwifruit in 2011 which led to higher earnings.
The financial results of Zespri 2011/2012 showed an increase of 7% to NZ $ 1.62 billion and a record production of 116.5 million trays of kiwifruit.
The 2012 harvest will be the first where the volumes will be significantly lower due to the ravages of the disease Psa.
After 29 million trays of ZESPRI GOLD in 2011, the company expects 20 million trays this year.
Impacts of the Psa disease will be felt in 2012/13 and 2013/14. Zespri predicts a return to normal for 2014/15 with the new variety ZESPRI Gold3.
