China represents 74.1% of world production

With regard to the production of cucumbers and gherkins, China is by far the # 1 country in the world..

According to the figures from the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of United Nations) and statistics of Factfish.com, Chinese production of cucumbers and gherkins totaled 48.048 million tons in 2012. China has a share of 74.1% of total world production, the country has more than doubled its production since 2000 which recorded 23.26 million tons.

In the list of other producers, the following are far behind the Chinese leader: Turkey 1,741,000 tons and Russia 1,281,000 tons. Further, Spain with 713,200 tons, the Netherlands with 410,000 tons, Italy with 25,997 tons, France with 135 489 tons.
