Belorussia plans to produce transgenic potatoes

Testing planting of transgenic potatoes is planned to be carried out in Belorussia this spring.

After vegetables growing and cropping, gathered potatoes will be carefully studied in the laboratories. Of course it is not expected to see chips made of Belorussian transgenic potatoes soon. All the process of growing and studying will take at least couple of years. Under condition that there will found no elements that could be dangerous for human health or environment, we will be able to buy this new kind of potatoes in every market of the country (with special marking “GMO”).
