FairFruit has expanded its grower network in Peru, making snow peas and sugar snaps available earlier in the year and for a longer season.
FairFruit, known worldwide for its focus on regenerative farming, has expanded its grower network in Peru. Thanks to new partnerships, European buyers now have access to Peruvian snow peas and sugar snaps earlier in the year and for a longer season.
Shipments began by low-carbon sea freight in April, months ahead of the usual supply window, and will continue through the traditional September peak until the end of the year. This marks a 30% increase in off-season volumes compared to previous years.
The extended season comes after years of trials across 12 different growing regions in Peru. FairFruit has invested in long-term, fair relationships with local farmers, offering them fair pay, dignified working conditions, and training in regenerative agriculture. The company’s methods focus on restoring soil health, conserving water, and protecting biodiversity, while also helping communities secure stable incomes.
“FairFruit is now one of only two suppliers able to bring Peruvian snow peas and sugar snaps to Europe early in the season and then maintain reliable, high-quality supplies until year-end,” said Evert Wulfrank, CEO of Durabilis, the group behind FairFruit. He added that strict quality checks and training programmes guarantee compliance with EU pesticide standards.
For Claudia Granados, FairFruit’s Marketing & Business Development Manager, the company’s work goes beyond supplying vegetables: “At FairFruit we don’t just grow food, we grow futures. Together with our partners in Peru, Guatemala, and Ethiopia, we’re creating a fairer and more resilient food system.”
FairFruit is also upgrading its sustainability strategy in line with the EU’s upcoming reporting requirements and will release a detailed sustainability report next year.
The company will present its progress at Fruit Attraction 2025 in Madrid (30 September – 1 October), where visitors can meet its leadership team.
