Colombian exports between January and May 2021 totaled $3.784 million, which means an increase of 19.2%, compared to the same period in 2020.
According to Rodolfo Zea Navarro, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, the growth is due to foreign sales of non-traditional products, among which stood out Tahiti lemon, with an increase of 100.8% ($24 million); Hass avocado, +88.5% ($115 million); mango in various presentations, +82.5% ($12 million), and traditional products such as coffee and flowers.
According to the minister, this result is obtained thanks to the 'Health Diplomacy' strategy, with which they achieved admission for 49 products in 24 countries.
The main destinations for Colombian agricultural exports in the first five months of 2021 were the United States, with $1.478 million (19.4% more than in 2020), Belgium, with $206 million (29.7%), and the Netherlands, with $198 million (17.2%).
