CPR System is now represented in 2 more countries with lighter crates and less plastics

CPR System is the leading pooling company for plastic crates in Italy. The company offers polypropylene crates and pallets for the fruit and veg industry. Since June 2021, CPR has been present in Spain and Portugal as CPR Iberia, and already collaborates with a Spanish distributor. So now the company operates in Italy, Spain, and Portugal. This was shared by Rodolfo Maioli, commercial manager for CPR, at Macfrut show.

“Now we are finalizing an important project which we started a few years ago. In the next months we will completely substitute our old green crates which we have been using for 20 years, with the new Redea range. We decided to do this because we felt from the market that it was time to switch to a better performing  product. Not only because of design but also because of advanced technology ”, comments Rodolfo.

The new crates are 6-9% lighter than the old ones, which means less plastic needed for the production. Redea (that’s the name of the new crates), are also projected to transport more crates at once, which directly results in lower CO2 footprint.

Another important aspect is that CPR launches a tracing system to track the crates in the market. There is a QR code, the label with serial number, and a tag for transmitting and receiving data. This will allow the company, distributors, growers, and producers to trace every single crate. The tracing can be manual or automatic in the warehouse. The new crates also have a closing system that will simplify a lot the job of the operators.

“We will produce 13 million crates, which is a bit less than we had before, because with a tracing system, we will be able to relocate them faster. The benefit is in the reduced amount of plastic used for crate production. Collection process is managed by our software which allows our clients to issue the order for crates. We have various points for washing and recollection across Italy, Spain and Portugal ”,

“Our business is similar to our competitors but the idea we have at the core is different. We put at the center of our business all the actors, not only distributors. Our system gives a possibility to producers, transport companies, distributors to communicate with each other, which is always a benefit” , concluded Maioli.
