The import of fruits and vegetables in Spain increased by 6%.

In 2020, the Spanish import of fruits and vegetables showed an increase of 6 percent in value compared to 2019, rising to 3.118 million euros (+3.5 percent in volume), totaling 3.4 million tons, according to data from the Department for Customs and Special Taxes of the Tax Agency.
The Spanish import of vegetables in 2020 totaled 1.5 million tons. It is a growth of 3.2 percent compared to 2019, for a value of 931 million euros (-3.6 percent).
The potato stood out with 914.443 tons imported (+9 percent), worth 275 million euros (-7.6 percent); and green beans, with 131.402 tons (+9 percent) and 142 million euros (-8 percent).
Fruit imports also increased both in volume, with 1.8 million tons (+4 percent), and in value, with 2.222 million euros (+11 percent). Avocado imports stood out with 173.824 tons (+28 percent) for a value of 341 million euros (+12 percent). Oranges also stood out with 191.327 tons (+29 percent) and 162 million euros (+59 percent);
Regarding the import of red fruits, in 2020 raspberries totaled 34.376 tons (+11.5 percent) and blueberries, with 32.518 tons (+54 percent).
The average price of fruits imported by Spain grew by 6.6 percent compared to 2020, passing from 1.1 euros per kilo to 1.2 euros per kilo, according to the Department for Customs and Special Taxes.
