The south of Italy flooded
Italy
Friday 31 January 2003
After two years of dryness, the region of Pouilles in the south of Italy suffers from bad weather conditions and, in particular, heavy rains. Fructidor's country manager, Tony Bongiovanni, reports the rains of these current days are a danger for vegetables. In Zaponnetta (province of Fogia) where the sandy ground is favourable to carrots, potatoes and white onions, there will be heavy losses as the lands are completely flooded. In the plain of Gargano also, many wastes are recorded in salads, broccoli and cauliflower.
