In Ireland, exports of fruit, vegetables and cereals jumped by EUR 8 million in 2022 and mushrooms are well ahead of the ranking with a share representing 50.5% of the total value.
According to the report presented by Bord Bia, exports of horticulture and cereals served 36 markets in 2022 and totaled EUR 301 million, an amount EUR 8 million higher than the previous year.
The value of mushroom exports in 2022 was EUR 152 million, representing a share of 50.5% of the total exports of the fruit, vegetables and cereals sector. Cereals represented a share of 24%, fruits and nuts 11%, other vegetables 7% and potatoes 1%.
The Department of Agriculture has estimated that total Irish agri-food exports (dairy products, drinks, fish products, meat, etc.) in 2022 reached EUR 18.7 billion, or +21% compared to last year.
