Great Lakes EXPO 2020 goes to a virtual platform
Great Lakes EXPO Fruit, Vegetable and Farm Market offers one of the largest trade shows for fruit and vegetable producers, greenhouse growers and farm marketers in North America. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 trade show will be virtual with more than 70 education sessions and workshops.
Three-day program will include sessions on fruit, vegetable and other specialty crops, greenhouse crop production and marketing, farm marketing ideas and operations, as well as farmers’ markets and organic production and marketing. Also will be held sessions covering many general interest topics, including food safety and labor. Researchers and educators from Michigan State University, and other Land Grant universities and industry representatives will make presentations.
Among exhibitors are seed companies, equipment companies, fertilizer and farm chemical manufacturers and suppliers, nurseries, packaging equipment and container companies, and greenhouse-specific suppliers. The trade show will also have a platform for exhibitors offering products specifically for Farm Markets. Different state and federal agencies will also exhibit, in order to update attendees about the current programs and regulations.
Adam VanDyk, president of the Great Lakes EXPO, said, “Moving the EXPO from an in-person experience to a virtual platform was the last choice we wanted to make. We recognize that a significant advantage of the show is the networking with friends and business associates. The EXPO board is working to bring as much of the in-person feel we are used to onto a virtual platform.”
The virtual 2020 Great Lakes EXPO will still take place on the originally scheduled dates on December 8-10.
