Poland
Wednesday 13 May 2009
At the beginning of this week prices of apples intended for export slightly decreased.
On Monday, May 11th in the area of Grójec the price of apples of red varieties 70+, packed into cartons was 1.70 PLN (0.39 euro)/kg.
The price of Idared, 70+, also packed into cartons was 1.80 PLN (0.41 euro)/kg. It means a decrease in price of 0.10 – 0.20 PLN (0.023-0.046 euro)/kg.
Apples 80+ also became cheaper and on Monday their average price was 1.80 PLN (0.41 euro)/kg.
Decrease in prices is a result of demand from Russian market which is enough supplied with Polish apples. Moreover the prices of Polish apples were recently high enough that apples from western Europe could compete with them.
