The Syrian Agricultural Products Exporters Association (SAPEA) officially set up in Damascus
The Syrian Agricultural Products Exporters Association (SAPEA) has been officially set up in Damascus on October 27.
The establishment of the association is in the spirit of the 5-year development plan implemented by the Syrian government, according to Syria's deputy prime minister for Economic Affairs, Abdullah Al-Dardari who launched the association in Damascus on October 27. At the same time, the Syrian Agricultural Products Exporters Association (SAPEA) intends to keep a view towards fostering integration between the state and society and giving a boost to the agricultural sector, AnsaMed news agency reported.
"We are witnessing more globalization, integration and competition, so we need more competitiveness in our economy, which requires achieving the highest value in all economic sectors, and particularly in the agricultural sector, to achieve the highest revenues for national economy," he added.
Al-Dardari then added that the government was working to reach higher levels as concerns the quality of agricultural products and to promote exports.
Agriculture industry in Syria accounts for 25% of country's GDP and 30% of its work force.
