The Fruit Logistica fair, which brings together professionals in the fresh produce sector, is a privileged place to identify trends. This year, sustainability seems to be at the heart of concerns.
Among the 81 recent innovations from 14 countries: the Italian company Biopac, the Polish company Sofrupak, the British company Keymac and the Canadian company CKF unveil environmentally friendly packaging solutions. The Dutch group VAM WaterTech is exhibiting its new water treatment solution, which recycles water to protect the environment.
Entitled "Do the Right Thing", the 2020 trends report from FRUIT LOGISTICA was unveiled at the official opening event. A growing number of buyers and consumers are looking for sustainable supply models that answer questions such as climate change and corporate social responsibility.
As a result, fresh produce companies could benefit from a significant business advantage if they could ensure that products are grown, obtained and distributed in a more ethical and environmentally friendly manner.
