TROPS, the tropical fruits "nearby"

Tropical fruits directly from Southern Spain with TROPS, an association of 1,500 producers based in the region of Malaga. The area enjoys a particular micro-climate for the cultivation of tropical fruits.

TROPS is the largest Spanish producer and distributor of avocados and mangoes, with 13,000 tonnes of avocados and 7,000 tonnes of mangoes. The Hass avocado is 70% of production, but the Fuerte, Pinkerton, Reed and Bacon varieties are also available. Mango production is increasing. The main variety is Osteen, a colored and very tasty mango. The proximity to markets allows production of quality fruit, ripened on the tree.

TROPS also produces in smaller quantities lychees, kumquats, cherimoyas, loquats and herbs like parsley and cilantro.
