A British manufacturer offers a tool to reduce bruising damage of fresh produce.

With 46 years of experience, Martin Lishman Ltd is a manufacturer and distributor of specialist agricultural equipment, focusing on potato and fruit quality monitoring and crop storage.

Headquartered in Bourne, the United Kingdom, the business is run by Gavin and Carol Lishman, the successors of Martin Lishman.

The company assures that bruising damage to fresh produce and the resulting food waste is easily overlooked in all areas of production from harvest to processing, and most issues can be avoided with simple fixes along the production chain. 

Martin Lishman has been involved in helping reduce bruising damage in potatoes for over 20 years with the TuberLog electronic potato, which continues to be a vital tool for testing harvesters and grading lines. 

ImpacTrack is the latest product from Martin Lishman. It’s a lightweight data logger encased in different shapes that mimics the size and density of fresh produce such as apples, avocados and oranges. 

The ImpacTrack is designed to help reduce bruising damage by revealing areas of damage throughout processing lines and transport links, highlighting needed improvements.

Dr Gavin Lishman, Managing Director of Martin Lishman Ltd, commented:

“The range of ImpacTrack shapes is developing all the time. When customers approach us, our design team is able to create the shape to their specific requirements. We now have a library of 25 shapes ranging from apples to mussels, each with its own specifications according to the produce type. With new customers coming to us from all over the world, our plan for 2021 will be to continue to develop new carrier shells to add to our ever expanding collection. A smaller ImpacTrack logger suited to blueberries, cherries, grapes, etc, is also in development for the future”.
