In the United States, sales of organic products are steadily increasing.
In the United States, the area dedicated to organic farming increased by 11% compared to 2014 totaling 4.1 million acres in 2016 (1.6 million hectares) and the number of certified farms is 14 979 or + 6.2%.
A recent report found that the top 5 states in the country for organic areas are California, Montana, Wisconsin, New York and North Dakota. Then followed by Colorado and Texas.
California is well ahead of the rankings with 688,000 acres (178,423 hectares). In 2016, 417,000 acres (168,753 hectares) have grown strongly in Montana, with an increase of 100,000 acres (40,468 hectares) since 2014.
