Polish fruit and vegetable exports can be sold on the Russian market for the first time in two years.
Russia has formally lifted its two-year long embargo on Polish fresh produce after officially signing the European Commission's memorandum on food safety last week (26 March).
The memorandum guarantees that all plant products sent from EU countries meet Russia's strict food safety standards, in the fields of both processing and of direct consumption.
A similar ban on meat products was removed on 19 December last year.
Polish Agriculture Minister Marek Sawicki had confirmed the lifting of the ban on Polish Radio One, stressing that Poland will now need to take extra care to meet the standards expected of its fruit and vegetables.
