Kiwis: the 2024 harvest is the biggest ever in New Zealand

Although there are still small volumes to be picked in the orchards, the 2024 harvest is already the largest kiwifruit harvest ever in New Zealand.

 

Local media report that, according to New Zealand Kiwifruit Growers Inc, the number of trays has already reached 193 million, with each tray containing an average of 30 kiwifruit. This represents an increase of 45.1% on the 133 million trays for the 2023 harvest. 

 

This 2024 harvest is a perfect contrast to the 2023 harvest, which was severely affected by cyclones and frost.

 

Production in 2024 (193 million trays) is now the largest ever, ahead of 2021 (184 million trays) and 2022 (175 million trays).
