AFL Barendrecht, fruit and vegetables transporter throughout The Netherlands, Belgium and France, is expanding at Nieuw Reijerwaard, a food center located in the Netherlands. Eric Barendrecht, General Director of AFL Barendrecht and Director Gert-Jan Metselaar of the Gemeenschappelijke Regeling Nieuw Reijerwaard (GRNR) have signed an agreement on the preliminary reservation of a plot of more than 2.2 hectares (22,245 m²) on the Nieuve-Reijerward.

According to Erik Barendrecht, AFL Barendrecht has chosen Nieuw Rijgervard as its new location because their current location on Oosteinde in Barendrecht has grown so much in 12 years that they can no longer expand their activities there. “Nieuw Reijerwaard really offers us these expansion options. From this new location, we can serve our customers even better,” he added.

The company is building a commercial building with parking spaces on the new location. The building will be put into operation at the end of 2022.

Gert-Jan Metselaar noted that GRNR are very pleased with AFL Barendrecht's interest in their business park. "We offer space for the necessary expansion for many companies in the region. Certainly companies within fruit and vegetables logistics are very welcome here!" he said.

AFL Barendrecht specializes in refrigerated storage, refrigerated and container shipping of fruit, vegetables, packaged consumer goods and non-food products. The company was founded in 1971, operates both at home and abroad.
