Located on San Francisco Bay, the Port of Oakland enjoys a central position on the west coast of the United States. The Port of Oakland ranks 1st among US ports in terms of TEU (20-foot container) volume for the reefer export trade.
In 2023 the total trade value of reefer exports through Oakland reached USD 7.1 billion. The port increased its overall market share of reefer exports by 4.1%, from 14.2% to 18.3%. In 2023, reefer export volumes from the Port of Oakland increased by 4%, while total US temperature-sensitive export volumes decreased by 20%.
The main refrigerated products exported from the Port of Oakland are beef, pork, fruit, dairy products and vegetables.
