According to data from Eurostat, the EU's statistical office, processed by FEPEX, from January to September 2023, the EU imported fresh fruit and vegetables worth EUR 13,907 million from third countries, up 12% on the same period in 2022.
From January to September 2023, the EU imported fresh fruit and vegetables worth EUR 1,833 million from Morocco (+6% compared with the same period in 2022), EUR 1,544 million from South Africa (+17%) and EUR 1,361 million from Peru.
From Turkey to a value of EUR 1,181 million (+33.5%), from Ecuador to a value of EUR 953,419 (+18%), from Costa Rica to a value of EUR 945,229 (+5%), from Colombia to a value of EUR 789,372 and from Egypt to a value of EUR 761,449.
In terms of volume, these imports into the EU represented 1.04 million tonnes from Morocco, 1.09 million tonnes from South Africa, 662,258 tonnes from Peru, 843,297 tonnes from Turkey, 1.3 million tonnes from Ecuador, 1.3 million tonnes from Costa Rica, 930,000 tonnes from Colombia and 1.13 million tonnes from Egypt.
