Vegetables in Russian market in mid-March 2008

Onions were stable in Saint-Petersburg but the demand from regions was not that strong anymore due to activity of importers. Prices anyway went slightly up - 0,455 US$/kg. Potatoes both red and white were sold in Saint-Petersburg on 0,40 US$/kg price level. In Moscow some fresh crop Moroccan potatoes in jute bags appeared - 1,105 US$/kg. Moroccan tomatoes went up from 1,38 US$/kg in the beginning of week 9 to 1,73 US$/kg in the end of it. Capsicums rocketed up to 5,00 US$/kg for red colored. Very strong demand was observed for local cucumbers.
