Chiquita reports net income of US$20 million for Q1

Produce distributor Chiquita has reported first quarter 2004 net income of US$20 million. This compares to earnings of US$25 million for the first quarter in 2003. Sales for the quarter were US$793 million, compared to US$471 million in the first quarter of 2003. The figures include the sales of German distributor Atlanta which was acquired in March 2003.
