Poland: negative balance of trade in fresh vegetables

According to preliminary data of Analytical Centre of Custom Administration (CAAC), in 2008 the export of fresh vegetables amounted to 498.6 thousand t at value 201.3 million euro.
At the same time Poland imported 354.6 thousand t of fresh vegetables at value 251.2 million euro. The negative balance of trade in fresh vegetables increased by about 34 % as compared to 2007.
As regards processed vegetables in 2008 Poland exported 478.3 thousand t at value 321.7 million euro. The import of processed vegetables amounted to 168.2 thousand t at value 159.1 million euro. The positive balance of trade in processed vegetables increased by about 17 % as compared to 2007.
