European Flavors, which aims to promote fruit and vegetables in Italy, will begin a campaign in Canada.
The project, worth a total of 3.6 million Euros, is funded in 50% by the European Union, 20% by the Italian government and the remaining 30% by Italian companies members of the CSO (Apoconerpo , Apofruit, Afe, Granfrutta Zani, Lagnasco Gruppo, Opoveneto, Pempa corer, Cico, Made in Blu Oranfrizer Conserve Italia, Orogel).
European Flavors will start out at the PMA convention. A communication program will be conducted in major supermarkets across Canada to promote pears, kiwis, plums and oranges from Italy. Many tastings are planned to present taste and flavor of Italian products to the Canadian consumers.
Italy exports around 10,000 tons of fruit and vegetables each year in Canada. Canadian demand is stable since 5 years for pears, oranges, kiwis, apples and grapes.
