End of decline for Philippine banana exports

After 4 years of decline in the volume of bananas exported, the Philippines recorded a recovery in 2023.

 

According to local media, PSA (Philippine Statistics Authority) announced that the country exported 2.354 million tons of fresh bananas in 2023, up 3.5% on 2022 (2.275 million tons).

 

In terms of value, these banana exports generated 1.22 billion USD, up 11% on 2022 (1.097 billion USD).

 

This good performance is attributed to additional production in rehabilitated areas previously affected by Panama disease.
