Durian: A new record for Thai exports

In Thailand, despite the impact of the weather on production in the east of the country, the volume exported to China continued to grow.
According to local media quoting Nuttakrit Oranhirunrak, vice president of the Thai-Chinese Agribusiness Association in Chanthaburi province, from the start of the harvest season to June 10, 2023, a total of 33,000 containers of durians have been exported to China.
This is well above the 15,000 containers exported to China 3 years ago.
In eastern Thailand, recent climatic conditions are causing the durian to take an irregular shape. If climatic conditions return to normal and durian takes on a regular shape, Thai exports could reach 40,000 containers.
From January to May, cumulative exports of fresh durian to China reached 480,000 tons, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.
