US$ 13,46 billion of produce and nuts imports by China until August 2024, up 3,7%
According to the monthly summary data of China Customs in the first eight months of 2024, China's total import and export of agricultural products amounted to US$211.78 billion, down 5.1% year-on-year. Among them, exports were US$65.16 billion, up 2.2% year-on-year; imports were US$146.62 billion, down 8.1% year-on-year; and the trade deficit was US$81.46 billion, narrowing by 14.9% over the same period of the previous year.
In August all indicators positive
China's total import and export of agricultural products 27.78 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 3.4 per cent year-on-year. Among them, exports 8.43 billion U.S. dollars, up 3.5 per cent year-on-year; imports of 19.35 billion U.S. dollars, up 3.4 per cent year-on-year; trade deficit of 10.92 billion U.S. dollars, widened by 3.3 per cent compared with the same period last year.
Fish and grains key exported commodities
The cumulative export quantity for aquatic products achieved of 2.579 million tonnes until the month of August, up 10.4% year-on-year, export value of US$12.62 billion, down 3% year-on-year. Grains are the second exported Chinese agrifood with cumulative export quantity of 1.359 million tonnes, down 7.6% year-on-year, export value of USD$ 900 million, down 13.4% year-on-year.
Key imported agricultural products
Meat (including miscellaneous mince): cumulative import quantity of 4.4 million tonnes, down 13.9% year-on-year, import amount of US$15.33 billion, down 20.9% year-on-year. Dried and fresh fruits and nuts: cumulative import quantity 5.54 million tonnes, up 1.6% year-on-year, import value US$13.46 billion, up 3.7% year-on-year. Grain: the cumulative import quantity of 113.054 million tonnes, an increase of 6.1% year-on-year, the import value of 49.06 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year decline of 13.2%. Among them, the cumulative import quantity of soybeans was 70.478 million tonnes, an increase of 2.8% year-on-year, and the import value was US$36 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 14.4%. Edible Vegetable Oil: the cumulative import quantity of 4.764 million tonnes, down 23% year-on-year, the import value of 4.78 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year decline of 30.7%.
