Statistics confirm the delay in the Turkish citrus season

Two weeks after the start of the citrus season, export statistics for September show that, indeed, the season started slowly. Exports of lemons, which account for 88 per cent (in quantity) of total exports of Turkish citrus fruits, are down by about half compared to September 2014 which reached 27 000 tons, while easy peelers, which are 11 percent of exports are down by 63 percent. Even 1 percent of oranges exported showed a decrease of 47 percent.
If we consider the countries of destination, it is found that Iraq, by cons, increased its imports by 35 percent compared to the same period in 2014, representing 25% of total exports, lst place in terms of quantity for Russia, which sees its imports fall by 72 percent, followed by Ukraine, Poland and Romania, and Italy and the Netherlands, accounting for 4% of total exports. Outside of Iraq, all countries saw their imports dropped.
