Sour citrus post strong gains in both volume and value.
Argentina’s agroindustrial exports reached a historic high in the first five months of 2026, with fresh produce among the sectors contributing to the country’s stronger trade performance.
Between January and May, Argentina exported 53 million tonnes of agroindustrial products, up 18% from the same period in 2025. Export value also rose 17%, reaching USD 22.38 billion.
Citrus
For the fresh produce industry, one of the clearest positive signals came from sour citrus. According to the government, exports from the sour citrus complex increased 31% in volume and 42% in value compared with the same period last year. This makes citrus one of the produce-related categories standing out inside Argentina’s broader agroindustrial export growth.
Stone fruit
Stone fruit was also mentioned among the sectors that recorded stronger export values. The government did not provide separate volume figures for this category, but its inclusion points to better commercial results for fruit shipments during the period.
Vegetables also included
Heavy vegetables were also listed among the sectors that contributed to growth in Argentina’s agroindustrial exports. The report does not give specific figures for this segment, but its mention shows that vegetables remained part of the export recovery across the country’s food and farming sectors.
Key markets
Argentina’s main agroindustrial export destinations in the first five months were Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, China, Algeria, Indonesia, Egypt, Peru, Malaysia and India. Together, these ten markets accounted for more than 53% of the total export volume.
