Russia is still the first world importer of apples

In the ranking of the largest importers of apples, Russia is the No. 1 worldwide.
According to Fruit&Vegetable Facts which collates the global data, Russia is the largest importer of apples in the world. In the 2012/13 season Russia imported 1.4 million tons of apples, mostly (750 000 tons) from Poland.
Far behind Russia, arrives in 2nd position in Germany (500 000 tons) and the United Kingdom (487,000 tons) and the Netherlands (330 000 tons).
Outside Russia, the markets in growth were: Mexico (which imports from USA), Egypt (which imports from Italy, Syria, Lebanon), Canada (which imports from USA), India (which imports from USA, China, Chile, New Zealand), Indonesia (from China, USA), the United Arab Emirates (from USA, Chile, China, South Africa, New Zealand, Italy, France), Saudi Arabia (from Chile, China, Italy, France, the USA), Thailand (China, New Zealand, the USA).
