China receives 30% of Kenya's avocado exports

China opened its market to fresh avocados from Kenya in August 2022. Since then, volumes shipped have risen sharply.

 

Local media report that Kenya continues to strengthen its trade links with China. Agricultural exports are on the rise, with avocado exports topping 7,000 tonnes this year. Fresh avocado exports to China accounted for 30% of Kenya's total avocado exports.

 

China has made significant investments in Kenya in a number of sectors, including infrastructure, clean energy and digital technology. 

 

The various agreements signed between the 2 countries will continue to strengthen trade and commerce. By 2022, bilateral trade between Kenya and China stood at around 8.5 billion USD.
