Maxima, the largest retailer in the Baltic countries, expands into Poland by acquiring Aldik Nova.
Maxima from Lithuania, the largest retailer in the Baltic countries, has entered the Polish market with the acquisition of a regional chain of supermarkets.
Maxima Group will buy Nova Aldik with 24 supermarkets in the south-east. Located in the regions of Lublin and Podkarpackie, Nova Aldik stores account for only 0.5% of Polish supermarkets in terms of value, but they could become the basis for
future expansion of Maxima in Poland.
The Lithuanian group has received regulatory approvals for the acquisition for an undisclosed amount. Maxima Group has 223 stores in Lithuania 132 in Latvia 63 in Estonia and 41 T Market stores in Bulgaria. In 2010, the group's turnover amounted to LTL 7.3 billion (€2.10 billion).
