Urban gardens, CAAB new project for sustainable development

CAAB (wholesale market of Bologna) launches a new initiative.

After the largest photovoltaic power plant in Europe, CAAB has launched a new project: 100x100 Orti Urbani (urban gardens). The wholesale market of Bologna converted 3000 m2 in 108 urban gardens of 25 m2. Initiative for environmental education and healthy eating.

These gardens are entrusted to families with children and students under 30 years. Each beneficiary received a manual "Sustainable urban garden", complete guide for agricultural production in urban areas. The production will be conducted according to the principles of sustainability: irrigation should not use tap water but rainwater, no chemical inputs, waste must be used in the development of organic compost for fertilization.
