A very positive season for the Cévennes sweet onion, the flagship product of the CEVENNES ORIGIN cooperative.
The CEVENNES ORIGIN cooperative finishes its marketing campaign and reaches the objectives it set for itself at the beginning of the season. A very positive assessment of the 2016-2017 season, which is due to dynamic growth (volumes increasing, extension of the marketing calendar).
The marketed tonnage of Cévennes soft onions reaches 2,500 tons, a record volume, in line with early season forecasts and up by 19% from the 2,100 tons achieved in 2015-16. This increase is the result of a development policy that favors the installation of new producers.
With this tonnage record, the 2016-17 commercial season extended to the end of March. Thanks to improved storage conditions. The storage capacity in chambers at 0 ° C and 70% hygrometry allows to retain 60% of the harvest. The goal is to reach 70% very quickly.
The extension of the marketing calendar is a way to satisfy an ever more faithful, seduced and convinced clientele by the unique qualities of the Cévennes sweet onion.
