Despite the various problems affecting supply chains, both regionally and globally, Egyptian agricultural exports have just performed well.
Local media report that Egyptian agricultural exports reached 2.2 million tonnes in volume and 1.5 billion USD in value in the 1st quarter of 2024. This represents an increase of USD 300 million on the 1st quarter of 2023.
During the 1st quarter of 2024, according to official data, Egypt exported 1.2 million tons of citrus fruit, as well as fresh potatoes (387,603 tons), beans (54,110 tons), fresh tomatoes (32,536 tons), strawberries (19,592 tons), pomegranates (8,563 tons), guavas (6,378 tons) and fresh garlic (4,672 tons).
Exports of fresh and processed agricultural products are a vital source of foreign currency for the country. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, exports in 2023 reached 9 billion USD.
