Several major players in container shipping (MSC, AP Moller - Maersk, Hapag-Lloyd, Ocean Network Express) have just launched a new association called DCSA (Digital Container Shipping Association).
In collaboration with the various stakeholders throughout the value chain, the association will focus on standardization, digitization and interoperability in the container shipping industry. The association will also work on common standards and processes.
"For the first time in 20 years, the containerized shipping industry has come together with a common goal: to bring the industry into the digital age," commented Andre Simha, Chairman of the DCSA Supervisory Board.
A non-profit association, DCSA is headquartered in the Netherlands. Thomas Bagge of AP Moller-Maersk has been appointed CEO and statutory director of the association. Several other container shipping companies are expected to join the association soon.
