Apples: anticipation of a gradual recovery

ASSOMELA conservative estimate of the Consortium apple Italian growers that includes 80% of Italian production.

Apples sales reached 750,434 tons on December 1, an increase of approximately 19 % compared to the same period in 2013/14 . Same revenue recognition at EU level where sales also increased.

Assomela indicates that the total stock of apples is 1,403,310 tons on 1 January 2015 , more than 15% compared to the same time last year.

The offer is therefore likely to remain in surplus for the first months of 2015 , but sales show positive trends both on the national and international market. A gradual recovery for the rest of the sales for the season is perfectly conceivable.
