North American cherries will be delivered in 48 hours to Chinese consumers in several major cities.
Fresh cherries from the Northwest of the United States will benefit from direct flights from Seattle to Shanghai several times a week from the 18th of June.
CHERRY EXPRESS was created through a partnership between ALIBABA, CHINA EASTERN AIR GROUP and NORTHWEST CHERRY GROWERS.
The cherries will be delivered to consumers in Shanghai, Beijing, Shingin and Guangzhou in 48 hours. Either faster than for Northwestern cherries delivered to consumers on the east coast of the United States.
The Northwest region began about 10 years ago to market its cherries in China. China is now one of its most important export markets (10% of production). This season the harvest volume of the Northwest is estimated at 230,000 tons.
