The largest organic tea growing area in the world

According to the Director General of ÇAYKUR's statement, Turkey is fast becoming the country that will own the world's largest production of organic tea.

Currently, the area devoted to organic tea cultivation is around 10 000 decares and is expected to triple by 2016 to reach 38 000 decares in 2017. The organic tea cultivation is increasing rapidly because producers are willing to make the change from the traditional culture to the biological.

Turkey has no competitor in this field. It is the only country where the snow falls on tea, thus preventing the development of diseases, thus possessing the characteristic of being as natural as possible. Thanks to the project implemented, farmers will be helped in the transition to organic, especially at the natural fertilizer. In addition, the water quality used for the production is exceptional. The government is working with the University of Yeditepe to obtain an excellent tea.
