Never seen before in the Turkish hazelnuts history
MLK
While net exports from Turkey fell by 8.6% in 2015, exports of hazelnuts has increased by about 22% for the same period, reaching figures never equaled before: over 240 000 tonnes of shelled hazelnuts for a value of almost $ 2.9 billion, according to the president of the boar of directors from the Union of Exporters of the Black Sea Hazelnut and its products. He adds that it is the result of hazerlnuts market liberalization, applied since 2009, which is the source of these excellent results.
It should be added that thanks to intense promotional activities by the Promotion Committee of hazelnut, many markets and China in particular, have increased their consumption of hazelnuts. China has in fact consumed 3550 tons of Turkish hazelnut, against 165 tonnes in 2001 and some 600 tonnes in 2014. In the coming years, China will be among the 10 largest importers of Turkish hazelnut
