China report: Longwu Wholesale market (Shanghai) taken over by Esen Agro

Shanghai Longwu Fruit and Vegetable Wholesale Market is the place where most importers operate among the wholesale markets in Shanghai.

During a visit of fructidor team in Longwu last Friday, Mr. YU Zhongyong was pleased to announce that Longwu market has just been taken over by Esen Agro or Shanghai Esen Agro Products & Technology Developments co., Ltd. This is certainly a strategic move and shows how confident are professionnals in the future position of Shanghai in China. Longwu market has reached an incredible 30% growth for fruit import in recent years. In 2012, 6,500 containers (40 ‘’) have been imported in Longwu.

For 2013, a similar growth is expected, as already 5,900 containers have entered in Longwu on August 31st. Another explaination for this investment is to be found in the Chinese authorities decision to set up a new Free Trade zone in Shanghai by 2015. One said that authorities decided to cope with the under-table business made in Hong Kong and Guangzhou.
