Frost delayed the harvest of white and Chinese cabbages
For the past few nights the temperature dropped even below -5°C. In some areas of Malopolskie and Mazowieckie provinces the temperature reached even -7°C.
Frost delayed the harvest of white and Chinese cabbages. Such adversely weather may affect the quality of cabbages and duration of their storage, what already resulted in prices increase.
On Friday, the prices of white cabbage ranged from 0.45 to 0.60 PLN (0.11-0.14 euro)/kg.
The price of Savoy cabbage also increased. On the market, the supply of this cabbage is clearly lower. On Friday, the price of Savoy cabbage was to 2.00 PLN (0.47 euro)/pcs.
The price of Chinese cabbage is still stable – the producer price is from 0.40 PLN (0.09 euro)/kg. However if the harvest is delayed, the low temperature will affect the quality of Chinese cabbage what may result in higher prices in the future.
