The new sea motorway will compete directly with the road linking Ravenna, Brindisi and Catania.
In order to compete with Italian road transport and strengthen its presence in the Adriatic, Gimaldi Lines has openrd the connection Ravenna-Brindisi Catania, a direct link between Sicily and Apulia region between the north and south of the Adriatic coast.
The two ships, "Eurocargo Catania" and "Eurocargo Brindisi", used for the connection are the most effective operating in the Mediterranean. They have a capacity of about 240 trailers.
